Surfers Cup – 23 March
The Freeride World Tour and Alaïa Bay join forces to organize a unique competition: the Surfers Cup.
The best freeriders in the world, who meet in Valais for the final of the Freeride World Tour in Verbier, will compete in a friendly surf competition. The athletes are divided into 2 teams randomly drawn by two captains. The athletes are then divided into 3 rounds of different levels: Waikiki (for beginners), Intermediate and Advanced. During the draw, each captain picks an athlete to define One-to-One Battles. For each level, there are between 3 to 4 duels and each duel allows the winner to earn 1 point for his team. The winning team gets the maximum number of points. In the event of a tie, the captains will have to compete against each other in a aerial battle.
To lead the teams, there is the exceptional presence of 2 international pro surfers: the Spaniard Aritz Aranburu and the Tahitian Kauli Vaast. This is not their first visit to Switzerland as they both had the opportunity to test the waves of Alaïa Bay exclusively in 2021 before the opening of the pool to the public.
The public is invited to come and watch the competition from the terrace of Alaïa Bay’s restaurant, the Twin Fin. The evening continues with the prize-giving ceremony from 9pm and cosy party evening hosted by DJ Ronfa.
